"Sister M. Philomena, who before taking her vows was Miss Sallie Hemler, daughter of the late George Y. and Louisa Hemler, McSherrystown, died Monday evening at 4:15 o'clock in the Chestnut Hill hospital, Philadelphia, from the effects of a complications of diseases. She had been an inmate of the Immaculate Conception convent at Philadelphia. She received her early education at Frederick, and took her vows December 10, 1891.
"She leaves the following brothers and sisters: Miss Celesta Hemler [sic Sylvester], Denver, Col.; Jerome Hemler, Hanover; Martin, Weldon, George and Miss Louisa Hemler, McSherrystown. The funeral took place today at 9 o'clock at Chestnut Hill with burial in the Chestnut Hill cemetery."
