Born Aug. 3, 1903, in Maryville, to Mike and Mary "Mollie" Austin Sherlock, she was a homemaker and had worked as a former supervisor for St. Pat's grade school cafeteria and was a former Maryville correspondent for the St. Joseph News-Press in the 1940's.
She married Everett A. Swaney, Dec. 22, 1921, in Bedford, Iowa.
Mrs. Swaney was a graduate of Maryville High School and attended Maryville Normal School for two years. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's and St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish, Maryville; and a member of the Nodaway Democratic Club. She was the Polk Township collector for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Harold Swaney; parents; five brothers, Walter, Joseph, Ralph, Thomas and Maurice Sherlock; and a sister, Claire Brady.
Survivors include a son, James Swaney of Weston, Mo.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Thacker of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Nellie Robish of Olathe, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, May 24, at St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, with Fr. Donald Miller officiating.
Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maryville, Mo.
