Edith Rose Mangold Mayes died peacefully in her sleep on March 6, 2015 in Dallas at the age of 89.

Edith Rose was born August 25, 1925 in San Antonio.

She was an accomplished dancer and was passionate about her hobbies which included raising show dogs, birds and all manner of plants and flowers.

She was a member of St. Brigid's Catholic Church and the San Antonio Kennel Club.

She loved hunting and fishing.

Edith Rose is survived by siblings, Russell Joseph Mangold and Kathryn Ann "Kate" Mangold of San Antonio, son, Kenneth Wayne Mayes, Jr. and wife, Donna Kay Smith Mayes of Leakey, daughter, Barbara Louise Mayes Walsh and husband, Tracy Ryan Walsh III of Dallas, and daughter Loretta Faye Mayes Alexander and husband, Woodie Hamilton Alexander, Jr. of Missouri City, 4 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Wayne Mayes, Sr., parents, Walter H. Mangold, Sr. and Lorraine Emalia Carle Mangold, siblings, Walter "Buddy" Mangold, Jr., Virginia Mae "Mickie" Mangold Glau, Josephine Anna Mangold, all of San Antonio, and granddaughter Lisa Michelle Walsh of Dallas.

A grave-side service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, May 1 at 1:45 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Edith Rose's life.
