He was born November 6, 1937 in Eupora, MS to the late James and Edna Avery.
He was a retired salesman for Sunbelt Business Brokers and had previously worked for Ayer's Furniture, he was a member of the Jaycee's, and a U.S. Army Veteran.
The services will be private, interment will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.

James Webb Avery, 77, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, died Thursday, April 23, 2015. Mr. Avery was born November 6, 1937, in Webster County.
He was raised in the Springhilll/Cadaretta area and graduated from Springhill High School.
He is survived by his wife, Gail, of Ft. Smith, his daughter, Laura Avery, of Fayetteville, AR, his sister, Susan Mitchell of Clearwater, FL, three nephews, David, Leigh and Harley Avery, a niece, Ann Avery Hitt, several great nieces and nephews, and cousins from the Avery and Webb families
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clifford and Edna B Webb Avery, and his brother, Billy David "Bill" Avery.
