Funeral services for Mary B. Bishop, 89, of Killeen, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen. A graveside service will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop died April 25, 2015. The dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed into God’s hands from natural causes.

She was born May 20, 1925, in Jonesville, La., to Fannie (Mamma) and Henry (Pappa) Marlett. She had a brother, Joseph Marlett. On Jan. 2, 1943, Mary married the love of her life, Dwight Calhoun Bishop, and shared their love for 66 years until he passed into God’s hands in 2008.

Mrs. Bishop was dedicated to her family, friends, and her church; Pershing Park Baptist Church. Her interests involved Texas Squares Dancing Club, president of the Killeen Garden Club, president of the Fort Hood Officers’ Wives’ Club, and the Bob Gilmore Senior Center. Family and friends describe Mary as fantastic, elegant, compassionate, caring, loving and selfless. There is no one she would not love and no one who did not love her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Bishop; and her grandson, Corbett Bishop.

Survivors include her sons, Dwight Henry-Lee Bishop of Lampasas, James Rodney Bishop of Austin and Larry Paul Kratzenberg of Killeen; four grandchildren, Toni Ann Halstad of Centralia, Wash., Marty Leonne Fletcher of Lampasas, Sherry Treonne Stallings of Lampasas, Brenda Bernice Anderson of Amity, Ore.; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
