Donald J. Thorpe, 71, a longtime Afton resident passed away at his home on Thursday, April 23, 2015. Mr. Thorpe was born on November 21, 1943 in Afton to Roscoe Marian and Eva Ella (Hodson) Thorpe. He married Tonya Thomas in April fifty-two years ago. Mr. Thorpe was a Vice President at Farmers State Bank in Afton, then Ketchum State Bank, he traveled painting water towers for seventeen years before he went to work for the state of Oklahoma at the Eastern State Hospital in Vinita. He loved to volunteer, he worked for many years with the Afton Volunteer Fire Department where he retired as Chief, and he was also very involved with the Craig County Shriners and was also a Mason in Afton. He loved to do woodwork and work in his shop, but most of all loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Thorpe is preceded in passing by his parents Roscoe and Eva Thorpe and his brothers Marian, Jim and Eugene Thorpe.

Survivors include his wife Tonya Thorpe of the home, his son Troy Thorpe and his wife Lisa of Fairland, and his daughter Traci Tanner and her husband Cliff of Jay, Oklahoma, his grandchildren Taylor Thorpe, Trevor Shankles, Kayla Tanner and Callie Tanner along with his great grandchildren Sirenity Shankles and Talin Shankles and his nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Afton.

Services are 10:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2015 at First Assembly of God in Afton with Brother Kim Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Sixkiller Cemetery in Afton under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Afton.

Casketbearers are Cliff Tanner, Roger Tanner, Carl Tesreau, Terry Miller, Korey Deubler and Reggie Stone.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Pete Rozell, Jerry Chandler and Jim Schlesser
