McLeod, mother-in-law to Columbia's longtime mayor, Bob Coble, and the widow of former S.C. Attorney General Dan McLeod.
McLeod died Friday. She was 88.
A native of Newport News, Va., she moved to Columbia in 1954 and became involved in the community.
She served as school nurse at A.C. Flora High School and was an advocate of the Mental Health Association. She also served on the board of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. She also was a lifelong bridge player.
McLeod is survived by her four children, John Ellison Hart, Jr., of Columbia; Robert Sheppard Hart, of Torrance, Calif.; Daniel Rogers McLeod, Jr., of Greenville; and Elizabeth McLeod Coble, of Columbia.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Lt. Col. John Ellison Hart and McLeod, who served as the state's attorney general from 1959 to 1983.
Today's service will be at 3 p.m. at Washington Street United Methodist Church in Columbia, with visitation following in the church parlor.
