John Ross Rosazza, 79, of Bedford, died Saturday, December 20, 1997, at his residence. He was born in Hopewell on May 9, 1918, and raised in Bedford from the age of two. He was a son of the late Calisto Lorenzo Rosazza and Beulah Gladys Ross Rosazza.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Isadore Lorenza Rosazza, Weldon ("Tony"") Rosazza and Harold Milton Rosazza, and a sister, Mary Rosazza Fisher.

Ross was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II. He was a graduate of Westminster Choir College (B.A.), on whose board of trustees he served and where he was named a Distinguished Graduate, the Conservatoire National de Musique, Paris (Fulbright Scholar) and Rollins College (M.A.). He was Professor of Voice at Rollins for 33 years and head of the Music Department for 12. He was a lifelong member of Bedford Presbyterian Church, where he served in various musical capacities.

He is survived by several nephews and nieces in three generations.

A memorial service will be held at Bedford Presbyterian Church following the worship service on Sunday, January 25, 1998. Arrangements by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
