Betty Jean Stevens, 78, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment was at Friendship Cemetery in Roganville, TX. Mrs. Stevens, the daughter of the late Leon Sheffield and the former Essie Hooks, both of Roganville, TX. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Howk Kennedy, MD and husband John S. Kennedy, both of Lafayette, four grandchildren, Erin Lea Kennedy, Sean David Kennedy, Michael Regis Kennedy, and Kerry Stephen Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, David W. Howk, second husband, Cal Stevens, brothers, Jack Sheffield and Roy Lynn Sheffield.
