Geneva Pearl McFadden, 89, passed away on April 7, 2015, in Yuba City, CA, of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born to Kenneth Sanders Cleveland and Eva Louise (Spraggins) Cleveland on November 12, 1925, in Pangburn, Arkansas. After her mother's death and her father's remarriage, she moved with her family to Marysville in 1932.

She is predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Eva Cleveland, an infant brother, Paul David Cleveland, and her step-mother, Glatha Slay; her brother, Kenneth LeeRoy Cleveland and her sister, Betty Jo Bitterman.

Geneva attended Ella Elementary School in Olivehurst and later graduated from Marysville High School. She was a member of the choir, and she loved art and writing. While in high school, she worked as an usher at the State Theater. After graduation, she was employed as a clerical worker in the Brown Building.

She loved to dance, and she met her future husband at a dance in Durham. She married Glenn McFadden in 1949; they lived in several cities in Northern California but moved back to Marysville in 1962. They divorced in 1964.

Geneva was known for her work ethic, and she was employed several summers at Del Monte and Sunsweet canneries where she made life-long friends. In 1965 she returned to Yuba College for secretarial training; she was especially adept at shorthand and typing. After graduating in 1966, she worked as an account clerk at the Yuba County Welfare Department until she retired.

Geneva loved her family, gardening and watching birds. She also loved going to Reno with her sister, Betty Jo, and her best friend, Maxine Sanders. She was known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh; she could see the humor in just about anything.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer's Disease research.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at Lakeside Colonial Chapel at 830 D Street in Marysville at 1:00 p.m. Viewing from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Sierra View Memorial Park.
