Martin Gordon Selfridge, age 52, died Sunday, March 17, 1985, of injuries he received during a skiing accident at Eaglecrest, a family ski resort and skiing school, in Juneau, Alaska. Skiing at a very rapid speed down a steep slope, he reportedly fell, with his skis coming off, and ran into a tree. A physician who was skiing close by discovered the injured skier, giving him first aid. He was flown to Bartlett Memorial Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Daily Sitka Sentinel in Sitka, Alaska, reported the incident on Tuesday, March 19, 1985.

Martin Gordon Selfridge, born to his parents, Harry Gordon Selfridge, Jr. and Charlotte Elsie (Dennis) Selfridge, in Kent, England, United Kingdom, on August 12, 1932, was survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Harrer) Selfridge, his sons Eric Gordon Selfridge, Durstin Gordon Selfridge, Barrett Gordon Selfridge, daughter, Hilary Tao Selfridge, brothers, Dr. Oliver Gordon Selfridge and Dr. Ralph Gordon Selfridge, sister, Dr. Jennifer Ann (Selfridge) McLeod, cousins, Titiana Rose Marie de Bolotoff, Mallory Gordon Selfridge, Peter Gordon Selfridge, Caroline Gordon Selfridge, Olivia Selfridge, Pamela Jennifer MacLeod, Scott Gordon MacLeod, Jacqueline De Sibour Imbert, and Marc Blaise Imbert.

His father, Harry Gordon Selfridge, Jr, his mother, Charlotte Elsie (Dennis) Selfridge, his paternal aunts, Violette Buckingham (Selfridge) De Sibour, Beatrice Buckingham (Selfridge) De Sibour, and Rosalie Dorthea Buckingham (Selfridge) de Bolotoff, and cousin, Jean Jacques Henri Blaise De Sibour (1922-1943) predeceased him.

Paternal Grandparents: Harry Gordon Selfridge, Sr. and Rosalie Amelia (Buckingham) Selfridge.

Maternal Grandparents: Pierce John Dennis and Bertha "Bertie" Alice (Williams) Dennis
