Alva Lou Ikerd, Bedford, died Sunday, February 16, 1997, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. She was born in Macon, GA, on December 1, 1911. On August 18, 1932, she married Lawrence "Beanie" Ikerd, who died in May, 1961. Also preceding her in death were two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Sara Kaufmann of Killeen, TX, and two sons, Larry Ikerd of Bedford and Harold Ikerd of Miami, FL, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bedford, and a 50 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star #129, where she was a Past Worthy Matron.
Friends may call at The Day & Carter Mortuary on Tuesday, February 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening during the visitation hours. The funeral will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 19, in The Elmwood Chapel of The Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Jon Lineback officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
