Tom and Mattie were married 18 Dec 1923 in Marshall Co, TN. Six sons came of this union: Fred, Herbert, Earnest, William, Tom B Jr, and Bedford. Tom,Fred and Herbert died in a vehicle accident. They had been to see family living in Indiana and were coming back to TN. The accident happened two miles southwest of Michigan City, Indiana. They apparently were going to pass a vehicle and didn't see the 18 wheeler in time and hit it head on.
