W.J. Roe
William Jefferson Roe, a Citizen of Comanch for 30 years died at the family residence Monday. August 2, 1926 and was buried in Oakwood cemetery.
Mr. Roe was born in Dale County, Alabama August 5, 1849. He was one of 17 children. In December 1871, he was married to Sarah A. Trant of the same county. Mrs. Roe died two years ago, July 22, 1924. Two children survive them, Mrs. E. D. Norrid and J.M. Roe, both of Comanche. Other relatives are two grandchildren, son and daughter of Mrs. Norrid, Mrs. J.M. Thompson of Hamlin, a sister: two brothers, C. L. Roe of Beattie and J. J. Roe of Center Texas.
Mr. Roe came to Texas in 1876 settling in Coryell county and lived in that and Hamilton county until 1896 when he moved to Comanche.
Mr. Roe, with his wife joined the Christian church in 1878 and remained a dovoted Christain until his death. He was very fond of reading his bible and his worn edition was found at this little store after he contracted his fatal illness.
