He worked for The Salt Lake Herald and The Desert News, before returning to Granger to farm. He was a member of the Utah State Militia. He was a Seventy in the L.D.S. Church. He served a mission to England. He purchased the Poulton farm at 4522 West 4100 South, Granger, Utah. He married Alice M. Grant on 31 October 1900 in Salt Lake City. He had 2 daughters and 1 son.
