Veteran Civil War, Major. He first enlisted in Company F, 11th PA Cavalry Regiment as First Sergeant on 17 Aug 1861 in Tioga County PA. He then transferred on 5 Oct 1861 to Company B, 101st PA Infantry Regiment in Mansfield, Tioga County PA; he separated on 22 Sep 1862 due to typhoid fever. Following his recovery, he re-enlisted as Major, Field and Staff Headquarters Company, 207th PA Infantry Regiment on 14 Sep 1864, separated 31 May 1865. Married Josephine E.
