Wilford was born in Eolin, AL on Oct. 9, 1916 to the late B.B. and Amanda (Bell) Cox. Wilford worked in the pest control business in Sheffield, AL and also as an insurance underwriter for the Independent Life and Accident Insurance Co., retiring in 1981, and went on to manage security for Colors, Inc. Security, and retired from there in 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, in the 329th Sig. Corp. Wing, where he was a cryptographer, while stationed in Guam, a member of the York Terrace Baptist Church in Sheffield, AL. Wilford was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma L. Cox. He is survived by children Benjamin R.,of New Palestine, IN, Mark R. of Greencastle, IN, Danny Cox of Umitilla,FL. and Kathy Baxley also of Umitilla, FL.; brother, Maurice A. Cox of Carmel, IN; and sister, Audrey Hovater of Tri-Cities, AL.; grandfather of three.
