Mrs. Sarah Adair Dick
At Marshall, Ohio, Tuesday evening, September 14, 1886, in the 74th year of her age, Mrs. Sarah Adair Dick passed peacefully and quietly into the rest prepared for the people of God.
Mrs. Dick was the widow of the late Campbell Dick, whose name is held in high esteem of a wide circle of friends.
Her parents were among the early settlers upon Paint Creek and were numbered with the organizing members of the Rocky Spring Presbyterian Church.
Very early in life under the ministry of Dyer Burgess, Mrs. Dick united with that church and from that day until the day of her death she maintained a steady progressive Christian life.
In 1845, she was married to Campbell Dick, and at that time moved to the Dick homestead where she lived all her remaining days.
Mrs. Dick was the mother of Thomas H. Dick who lives near Marshall and was esteemed and loved as mother by Quinton Dick and Emily J.
Williams, whose mother died when they were quite small.
For many years she had been greatly afflicted. At times she suffered intensly. But pain and bodily affliction never covered the beauty of that pure life whose secret fountain was hid in Christ.
Her natural abilities were of a high order. Her power of discrimination enabled her to know and appreciate good literature. But it is not so much the culture of the mind as the culture of the heart for which she will be held in lasting remembrance.
It is because she loved much that she was much loved by everyone who knew her. Quiet, unobtrusive, still always attractive and winsome. Never boastful but by a beautiful consistency became a living witness for true culture and Christian character.
Truly a good woman has passed away. Gone from us to a realm of
higher development and purer enjoyment - the abode of the righteous, the home of the faithful.
Not dead, for through Christ she inherited eternal life. Not dead for the aroma of a well spent life lingers behind her as an inspiring benediction upon the generations to come.

"Life's duty done, as sinks the day,
Light from its load the spirit flied,
While heaven and earth combine to day,
How blessed the righteous when she died."
