Walt was the son of Anton and Helen (Remmes) Ausdemore.

Walt graduated from St. Joseph School, Neola, Iowa, in 1952. He was drafted into the Army in 1952 and after completing basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., served in Korea. After his honorable discharge from the military, he worked in construction with Wellman Construction for 33 years. He then went into soil conservation work with his own business for another 28 years.

Walt's pride and joy and love of his dozing work shows up in the many miles of terraces and dams he built in Pottawattamie and Harrison counties. He was adamant about preserving God's land. Walt also had a ball restoring antique John Deere Tractors in his spare time.

He married Rosemary Ring on May 4, 1957. They are the parents of five kids: Gary (Sue Barrier), Sally (Quentin Reese), Amy (Calvin Manhart), Tony (Heather Jenkins), and Ron (Amy Gudenrath). Grandparents of Ben, Sarah, Wendy, Samantha, Carrie, Andrew, Megan, Kelli, Daniel, Josie, Eric, Tanner, Madison, Walter, and Natalie. Great grandparents of Hadyn, Trey, Regan, Jax, and 2 more on the way; sisters, Mary Cronk and Donna Sobotka; brother, Harry (Lucille), many nieces and nephews.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth and Irene; and brother, Leonard.
