Ola Pearl Stanford

Ola Pearl Stanford, 94, of Denton, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at the Vintage Health Care Center.

She was born March 16, 1907, in Hope, Ark., to Julia Yokum Leatherwood and Walter Leatherwood. In 1924 she married Elbert C. Stanford Sr. in Argyle. He died in 1936.
Mrs. Stanford was a homemaker, mother of five children - Calvin, Lorene, Billie Jean, J.T. and Elbert Jr., grandmother of nine - Doris Franks, Martha Puckett, Janice Glass, Malinda Potynski, Rebecca Arnold, Randy Stanford, Ronnie Stanford, Angie Richardson and Karen Wilson, and great-grandmother of 14.

She was a longtime member of Calvary Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stanford was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Stanford and daughter, Billie Jean Arnold.

She is survived by sons Elbert Stanford Jr. and J.T. Stanford and his wife Betty and daughter Lorene Mercer, all of Denton.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors, conducted by her nephew, Joe Carlton.

Interment was in Graham/Argyle Cemetery in Argyle.
Pallbearers were Randy Stanford, Ronnie Stanford, Jeff Richardson, Mark Moore, Randy Stanford Jr. and Monty Sanders.

Mrs. Stanford was known as Mama to some - Good Mama, Aunt Pearl and Aunt Dutch to others, and Granny to many - we are blessed to have been a part of her life.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to staff and employees of the Vintage healthcare Center for her care during her nine year residence there.
