During the Spanish Civil War she married French poet Benjamin Péret, and moved to Paris in 1937. In 1940 she moved to Mexico, where she spent the rest of her life. Varo was known for the powerful and original view in her paintings. Among them are "L'Agent Double," "Gato Hombre," "Paisaje Torre Centauro," "Insomnio," "Premonición," "El Relojero," "Ruptura," "Tres Destinos," "El Gato Helecho," "Retrato del Doctor Ignacio Chávez," "Tailleur pour Dames," "Mujer Saliendo del Psicoanalista," "Vampiros Vegetarianos" and "Naturaleza Muerta Resucitando." She died in Mexico D.F.
