Iva Muriel Lany, 104 of Montross, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Mrs. Lany was the widow of John Jacob Lany, the daughter of Fred and Hattie Nash, a member of Popes Creek Baptist Church, and was a retired Data Retention Specialist at NSWC Dahlgren. Popes Creek Church was a big part of her life, and she served in many capacities including Treasurer, WMU Leader, Sunday school teacher, and Bible school teacher among many others. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Beverly W. Nash and Fred M. Nash, Jr.; and three sisters, Susan Evelyn Liggett, Hazel Landers, and Ernestine Nash England. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 20, 2015 at Popes Creek Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Welch Funeral Home, Montross Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Popes Creek Baptist Church P. O.
