Kathryn “Kathy” Mary Ressler, 67, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at the UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born March 16, 1948 in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Edith (Wiegman) Ressler. Kathy was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison, Iowa, and graduated from Allison-Bristow High School in 1966.

She earned a B.A. degree in elementary education from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and a B.S.N. degree in nursing from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Kathy worked for many years as a nurse at Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City, Iowa, Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, several local care centers, and most recently at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo, retiring in 2011.

She volunteered as a Hospice nurse for many years, beginning in 1979, having been a part of the first Hospice team in the Waterloo area. Kathy was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Kathy enjoyed fishing in Minnesota and Canada with her parents and spending time with her family, especially her six nieces and nephews. She will be remembered most for her dedication and life-long calling as a nurse, helping and caring for many individuals and families.

Kathy is survived by her two sisters, Doris (Keith) Rindels of Montezuma, Iowa and Ann (Ross) Grafft of Osage, Iowa; four nephews, Robert (Erin) Rindels, Ryan Grafft, Randi (Kara) Grafft and Reese (Brittanie) Grafft; two nieces, Melissa (Curt) Roach and Ranae (Grant) Norland; nine great nieces and nephews, Bailey, Madison & Garret Roach, Austin & Tyler Rindels, Gabriel & Bennett Grafft, Robert Grafft, and Brady Norland; an aunt, Marilyn Shultz, and special friends, Jerry & Pam McMillan.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Edith Ressler, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with inurnment at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Allison Cemetery in Allison, Iowa. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
