The wife of S. K. Upham was Marianne Brooks, who was born at Castine, January 9th, 1819, and died at Dixon on the 30th of December, 1870, aged almost 52 years. They were married at Castine on New Years Day, 1839, and had she lived one day longer would have completed thirty-two years of married life. She was the daughter of Barker and Margaret (Perkins) Brooks, and a descendant of William Brooks, who came to Scituate, Mass., from England, in 1635, as one of the passengers of the well-known ship "Blessing."

1. Margaret Barker, born at Castine, November 8, 1839.
2. Frank Kidder, born at Castine, May 3Oth, 1841.
3. Annie Gay, born at East Boston, Mass., August 20th, 1845; married Edward Utley, at Dixon, November 27th, 1866; died at Dixon, June 12th, 1867.
4. Charles Clifton, born at Woburn, Mass., May 5th, 1852; Married at Dixon, December 18th, 1883, Anna St. John Eells, who was born at
Dixon, November 6th, 1860; daughter of Samuel Cook Eells and his wife, Anna Elizabeth Moore.
