Steve Elling Colwick, 59, of Lorena, passed away early Saturday morning, August 31, from complications of a stroke, two weeks earlier. The family will hold a private memorial service and he will be buried at Boggy Cemetery in Cransfills Gap, Texas.

Steve was born in Waco, Texas on March 2, 1954. He was a graduate of Richfield High School, class of 1972, where he was a star basketball player. Steve played on scholarship for MCC for two years, the team reaching the national tournament. Steve then attended Baylor University on a basketball scholarship.

Steve was an license real estate broker and worked for many years selling furniture for Furniture Center in Woodway. Steve enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar and his quick wit.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother Guinevere Voils Colwick.

Steve is survived by his father Oscar Colwick of Lorena, sons, Jason Colwick of Houston and Kevin Colwick and wife Callie of Irving, daughters Valerie Boatwright and husband John Henry of San Marcos, brothers Craig Colwick and wife Debbie McCarter Colwick of McGregor and Brian Colwick of Waco; and sister Linda Chandler and husband David of McGregor.
