In Crescent Mills, Mathias and Anne Marie Duerner Frohlich brought August into the world. August had brother, George D Frohlich, and sisters, Mary Lena and Emma M Frohlich.

He attended the University of Nevada, from 1901 to 1903, but because of the untimely death of his brother-in-law, he left the University and went to work for the Washoe County Bank. Seems August became interested in politics while working at the bank.

By 1910, he was elected to the Nevada State Assembly, and on 19 Jan 1911, August was elected Speaker of the House.

August met Jane B Dahly, and they got married 25 Feb 1919, in Reno.

Although Jane’s son, August and Jane raised Raymond C Smith Frohlich, and although Helen’s son, they raised Richard V McAvoy Frohlich, and Helen and August had a daughter Mary H Frohlich.

August’s success, with politics under his belt, in 1932, he was elected Justice of the Peace, Reno Township, but two years into his term, he resigned to run for the U.S. Senate which left him defeated.

From 1939 to 1943, August served as Mayor of Reno.

On the 12 Jul 1941, Jane and August, through an amicable agreement, got a divorce. (Reno Evening Gazette)

By 2 Nov 1941, August married Helen B Hecox McAvoy, daughter of E.F. Hecox, in Sparks.

As his busy political life passed him by, poor health started to set in and August retired in 1954.
