Horace Franklin Armstrong Mr. Armstrong, age 72, died February 15, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center (Mercy Hospital) after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and Arthritis. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour (10-11AM) prior to service at funeral home. Interment will follow in Northlake Memorial Gardens. Mr. Armstrong was born September 15, 1935 in Charlotte, son of the late Dowd S. and Eva Mae Jenkins Armstrong. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Armstrong. He retired after many years with Packaging Specialities of Charlotte and following that was part-time employee at Food Lion for five years, which he loved. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Armstrong was a quiet man of strong faith who enjoyed spending time at his home with his family and dogs. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Rachel Sue Armstrong of Charlotte; daughter, Susan Acker and husband, Chris of Charlotte; grandchildren, Brittany and Landry; great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Jaden; and sister Shirley Eudy and husband, Wayne of Locust.
