On October 24, 1980 he was united in marriage to Gladys Highton in Miami, Ok, she survives of the home.
Roy graduated from West Plains High School and attended University of Massachusetts and graduated from University of Arizona. He served his country in the United States Army from 1948 through 1970; part of his career was served in the Korean War in Korea. Roy had a career in Law Enforcement from 1960 to 1985 and was a Funeral Assistant for Millard Family Chapels from 1995 to 1996. He was a former member of the American Legion and the VFW. Some of Roy’s hobbies included shooting, hunting and fishing
Roy is survived by his wife Gladys. One daughter: Brenda (Michael) Atteberry of Warrensburg; two step sons: Mark Highton of London, England and Gary (Barbara) Highton of Springfield, three grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one step grandson and one step great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Robert “Bob” Graves and two sisters: Reba Lemmons and Charlsey “Todd” Mullins
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 with Chaplain Bart Larson officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Springfield National Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hospice Compassus.
