William Duane Swofford went to be with the Lord on the morning of April 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 26, 1940 to the late William Clyde and Claire Ginsel Swofford in Austin, TX. Duane was a self-employed masonry contractor. He later began a career in real estate investments. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family, barbequing, hunting, fishing, history, and traveling. He faithfully served the Lord as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Lubbock.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Betty J.; children, Stacey Michelle Asbell and husband Bill, Jason and wife Lisa K., Randy, Andrew and wife Lisa M.; bonus children, Chad Bates, and Allison Adcock and husband Brian; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and aunt Ruth Ray.

He is proceeded in death by his sister, Nancy Berry; spouse, Karen Sue Swofford; and uncle Lynn Ray.

Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Home on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery at 11:30 am on April 13, 2015 with a celebration of life to follow at First Baptist Church at 2323 Broadway, Lubbock, TX, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FBC Lubbock Foundation.
