Robert Peterson, well known resident of Miltona township, passed away at the Thiel hospital at Bertha on Feb. 23 1943, at 2:10 a.m. He had been taken to the hospital the day before.
He was born in Sweden on May 12, 1869, and was at the time of his death 73 years, 9 months and 11 days. He grew to manhood in Sweden where he received his schooling and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. When 21 years old, Mr. Peterson emigrated to America. He worked at the carpenter trade for some time in Michigan and Wyoming, after which he came to Minnesota and settled in Carlos. Here he worked at his trade and also bought land. He later sold this land and bought a farm in Miltona township. On Dec. 19, 1921, he was married to Mary Friet Sweet.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson lived in Alexandria about one year after their marriage when they moved onto Mr. Peterson's farm in Miltona, which was his home until he passed away. Besides his wife, he is survived by twin stepchildren, Frank Sweet of Eldred, Minn., and Frances Sweet of Alexandria; also one brother, Theodore, of California and one sister in Sweden. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 o'clock, from the Anderson Funeral home, Dr. O. O. Gustafson officiating. Interment took place in Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Swenson, Richard Olson, Oluf Cederstrand, Ed Miller, Louis Steinke and A. J. Abbott.
