OBITUARY
Dortha Nell Goss, 64 of Adams, OK passed away September 6,1999 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
Dortha was born Sept 17, 1934 at the farm home of her parents, David Ray and Irene Jennings Johnston in Domby, Texas County, Oklahoma east of Adams. This is where she grew and attended Adams school, graduatied from Adams High School with the class of 1952.
On July 22, 1952 in Adams, she was united in marriage to John Goss, Jr. She attended Panhandle A & M College in Goodwell for one year while her husband Johnm ministered for a church in Felt, OK. They moved to Berkeley, CA for a year where John attended seminary and they returned to pastor the Baptist Church in Hardesty, OK for two years. They were at Bethel Baptist Church for 8 1/2 years; Springer, NM for 2 1/2 years; Booker, TX for 8 1/2 years and then moved to Tucumcari, NM where Dortha substituted at the local school.
In 1981 they moved to Adams, where John was a pastor of Adams Baptist Church with the loving help of Dortha. She worked as a bus driver and a teacher's substitute for the Hooker Public Schools for 16 years.
She was a member of the Adams Baptist Church.She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ethel Marie Johnston.
Survivors include her husband, Rev John Goss Jr.of the home in Adams; a son Jack and Linda Goss of Perryton, TX; daughters, Debbie and Ron Ivy of Aurora, CO; Donna and David Landes of Amarillo, TX; and Dorla and Keith Harris of Perryton, TX; sister, Kay and Jim McPherson of Aurora and their daughter, Alice Weaver of Arizona; brother Ken Johnson of Florida; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Dendall, Rachelle, Daurie, Darren, Keenan, Dalton and Donisha.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Sept. 9 at the First Baptist Church in Hooker with Pastor Rev. Ron D. Mimms and Rev. Steve Unruh officiating.
