Raymond L. Howell

Raymond L. Howell reached his goal October 9, 2005, surrounded by his devoted family.

He is preceded in death by his loving first wife, Ruth Alene Adamson and his parents, Bonnie and Burrell of Van Alstyne, Texas, and his sister Marie Langford.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Jackie; his daughters Vicki Lowrey and husband Ron of Flint, Texas, their daughter, Misty Distel and her husband, Hence, of Round Rock, Texas; Terri Forsythe, her husband Tracy, of Friendswood, Texas, and their children, Amy, Lacie and Zane; Becki Hughes, her husband Dave, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their children Shelby and Auburn; his extended family, Marty Goin, husband Buddy of Houston, Texas, their children, Niki Connor, husband Doug, Jason Goin, wife Robin, their children Ashley and Zachary; Mason Pokladnik, wife Angela; Dr. Jay Welch, wife Pam, of Texas City, their children, Aaron, Ryan and Colin; Ken Welch, wife Ann, of Round Rock, Texas, their children Andrew, Mikah and Philip; his sisters: Edith Burnett of Van Alstyne, Texas, Bonnie Jo Gleaves, husband Ector, of Howe, Texas and Reverends Dorothy Marshall, husband Jackie, of Boise, Idaho.

He served his country in WWII, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, worked at Union Carbide for 36 years, served as a Carbide Volunteer, member of the First United Methodist Church of Texas City, participated in Habitat for Humanity, and was a 12-year HOST participant.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Pallbearers will be Zane Forsythe, Hence Distel, Mason Pokladnik, Jason Goin, Aaron Welch and Andrew Welch. Honorary pallbearers are Shelby Hughes, Colin Welch, Philip Welch, Ryan Welch, Ralph Thompson, Don Stoltenberg, Russ Furley and Gordon Cronk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Burns Hospital for Children at Galveston, Texas or to the Maintenance Fund at the First United Methodist Church in Texas City.
