Lucy Evelyn (Krier) Hibbs, age 88, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Guest Home Estates III in Chanute, KS. Lucy was born September 19, 1926 in rural Atchison, KS, the daughter of Matthias and Wilhelmina (Watowa) Krier.

Lucy attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy in Atchison, KS. She married Calvin Curtis Hibbs on December 9, 1950 in Seguin, Texas. He passed away September 28, 1999. They lived many places but made their home in Humboldt for the last 32 years. She enjoyed doing embroidery, crocheting, cooking and baking anything chocolate. Lucy most of all enjoyed watching and feeding the hummingbirds.

In addition to her husband Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Anna Mae Vollmer and a brother, Robert Krier.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth Hibbs and wife Debbie of Ottawa, KS and Sharon Scarrow and husband Virgil of Humboldt, a brother: Francis Krier and wife Mary Ann of Effingham, KS, a sister: Mildred Hoffman of Denton, KS, grandchildren: Sheree Scarrow, Ryan Scarrow and Jonathan Hibbs, two great granddaughters and one step great granddaughter.

Graveside services for Lucy are planned for Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Elsmore Cemetery in Elsmore, KS. The family suggests memorials to Guest Home Estates III and may be sent in care of Countryside Funeral Home 101 N. Highland Chanute, KS 66720. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
