James Gallo, Sr., 80, of Washington, died Monday, April 6, 2015, in his home.

He was born June 24, 1934, in Washington, a son of Anthony Gallo and Saveria Fragale Gallo.

Mr. Gallo was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. In September 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he also was a member of the wrestling team. He was honorably discharged in September 1956, following four years of service.

Mr. Gallo worked at Hazel Atlas #2 and retired from Jessop Steel after 37 years of service.

He was a member of St. Hilary Church and the VFW.

Mr. Gallo was a craftsman who enjoyed motorcycles, traveling, especially to the Outer Banks, and being with his family. In addition, he enjoyed riding his tractor and cutting the grass.

On November 19, 1955, he married Evelyn Reihner, who survives.

Surviving are three sons, Anthony (Vicki) of California, PA, James Jr. of Carlisle and Joseph of Washington; two daughters, Jackie (Ed) Chester of Washington and Tina (Michael) Craig of Shippensburg; a brother, William Gallo (Etta Jane) of Danville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Annette Chester, Thomas Chester, Kirah (Justin) Hoachlander, Julia Gallo, Katy Gallo, Nicholas Gallo and Jamie Gallo; and one great-grandchild, Evelyn Hoachlander.

Deceased are five brothers, Frank, Joseph, John, Louis and Samuel; and six sisters, Margaret, Julie, Mary, Rose, Virginia and Greta.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 9th, with Father Thomas O'Neil officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Hilary Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or to Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
