Charles A. Peters, 78, of Bowling Green, died at 7:48 p.m. March 27, 2010.
The Tell City, Ind., native was raised in Owensboro. He enlisted in the Air Force for a four-year period during the Korean War. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1958 from Brescia University in Owensboro. He joined General Electric Co. in 1959 and worked in accounting and finance in supervisory and managerial positions for 30 years until his retirement in 1989. In 1968, he was named to Gov. Louie B. Nunn’s Kentucky Efficiency Task Force for a more efficient, economical and serviceable state government. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He held assignments for General Electric in Owensboro, Singapore, Montgomeryville, Pa., Fort Wayne, Ind., and Scottsville. He and his family moved to Bowling Green in 1973 when he became plant controller of the Scottsville plant, a position he held until 1989. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the American Legion, Third Degree and Patriotic Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus. In his earlier years, he was active in various church ministries and in charitable and civic activities of the Knights of Columbus. He held offices in the Third and Fourth Degrees and Columbus Club of the Knights of Columbus. He was a son of the late Charles A. Peters and Dorothy Lamar Crowe. Wife and children survive.
