He married Jeannette Arnold on July 14, 1946, in Montana. They were later divorced. He married Leah Pace on April 2, 1977, in Reno, Nev.
He was reared and educated in Idaho Falls, Idaho, graduating from Idaho Falls High school. He had attended Idaho State university.
He had worked for Garrett Freight Lines for five years. He worked for the Southern Pacific railroad as a fireman And an engineer for 37 years, retiring in 1982.
He had been employed as a salesman for various companies including Allstate, Fuller Brush and the Bon Marche.
He was of the Roy Ninth LDS ward.
He was a member of the BPO Elks no. 2338 and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving are his widow of Roy, one son, Kirk Steve Andrus of Tremonton; two daughters, Mrs. LaMont (Sheila) Doman, Tremonton; Mrs. Harold (Kathy) Howard of Brigham City; two stepsons, David R. Roberts, Syracuse; Mark S. Roberts, Ogden; one stepdaughter Mrs. Hubert (Lea Rea) Rawson, Washington Terrace; 21 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.
Also surviving are two brothers, Emerson Andrus, Idaho Falls, Idaho: Don Andrus, Roseville, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Phenis (Mabel) Ball, Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Leavitt Chapel of Flowers mortuary with Bishop Monte Oswald officiating. Family will meet friends at the mortuary from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.
