GREENUP, ILL. Eugene (Spud) McMorris 48, of Greenup, died at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Five Star Motel, which he and his wife operated at Greenup. Death was due to an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Hiles Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Hurricane Cemetery, north of Greenup. Graveside military rites will be conducted.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. Mr. McMorris was born May 11, 1920, at Charleston, a son of Clifford and Zelma Tomberlin McMorris. He was married to the former Mary Kay Ryan. She survives. Mr. and Mrs. McMorris had operated the Five Star Motel here for about two and one-half years.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. McMorris was a member of the Toledo American Legion Post. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Wayne of Ft Leonard , Wood, Mo., and Don of Mount Morris; and daughter, Mrs. Connie Hutson of Zanesvllle, Ohio; a brother, Hugh of Tuscola; a sister, Mrs. Wanda Walden of Charleston; and three grand children.
