Wilford Perry Arant Sr., 92, of 3621 Charleston Highway, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 25, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Smoak officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Arant was born in Orangeburg, a son of the late John Thomas and Alice Patrick Arant. He was a retired farmer and operator of Arant’s Produce. Mr. Arant was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, member of Bethel Adult Sunday School class and a former trustee. He was a member of Farm Bureau and the Woodman of the World. Mr. Arant was predeceased by brothers, Henry Arant, Marion Arant, Coy Arant, Timrod Austin and B.T. Austin; and sisters, Myrtle Salley and Ottie Lee Hughes. He was the widower of Lurene Miller Arant.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wilford Perry Arant Jr. (Dayle), of Orangeburg; two daughters, Mrs. James S. (Elaine) Jones, of Abbeville and Mrs. John T. (Theresa) Champy, of Orangeburg; sister, Helen Bundy, of Sumter; brother, Odell Austin, of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Michael Jones, of Laurens, Susan J. (Charles) Costner, of Abbeville, Robin C. (Robbie) Dantzler, of Florence, Paige Champy, of Boston; P. Todd Arant and Marla R. Arant, both of Orangeburg; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Lindsay Costner.
