Anna was the youngest of three children born to Nils Liljedahl and Svenborg Bengtsdotter. She and her intended husband Pehr (or Peter, in many records) emigrated to the United States on March 28, 1887. The next day, the two were married in Rockport, MA. Anna was the mother to eight children: Alfred Henning Akerson (born Dec. 8, 1887), Albertina Linea Akerson (born May 28, 1889), Jennie Teresia Akerson (born April 29, 1891), Teckla Matilda Akerson (born April 26, 1894), Erika Ingeborg Akerson (born July 3, 1896), Alda E. Akerson (born August 2, 1900), Agda Cecilia Akerson (born Jan. 19, 1902), and August Leander Akerson (born April 3, 1903). Unfortunately, only seven months after the birth of her eighth child, Anna contracted Typhoid Fever and died. She was only 37 years old. Anna was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Alda, three years prior.

There is some discrepancy in the Akeson family name. While in Sweden, the name was written as "Akesson". However, upon emigrating, the family name changed to "Akeson" and ultimately "Akerson" that was transcribed on the birth records of the eight children.

On the family tombstone, Anna's birth year is given as "1886". This is incorrect, as she would've only been a year old when her first child was born. The correct year is 1866.
