SECOND DEATH IN VICK HOME BLAZE
The death toll in the fire that damaged the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Vick, ---South Sixteenth street early Thursday was increased to two when Mr. Vick died at the Home Hospital at 5:45pm Thursday. Mrs. Vick died at the same hospital Thursday morning at 9:25am. Both died of burns, it was announced by Coroner H. E. Klepinger. The origin of the fire was not determined.
Edward M. Vick was born in White county Dec. 13, 1859, a son of Dr. William and Sarah Vick. Forty-nine years ago he married Rachel Ellen Edmonds. He was a charter member of the Odd Fellows' lodge at Otterbein and a member of the United Brethren church at Green Hill. Coming to Lafayette in 1911 he attended Grace U. B. church and for 19 years was in the employ of the Ross Gear and Tool company.
He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Millard Wright: three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Wolf, Lafayette; Mrs. Ida Boothroyd, Otterbein; and Mrs. Clara Cottingham, Topeka, KS, also a brother, William Vick, of St. Louis, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The double funeral will be conducted from Grace U. B. church Saturday afternoon at 2pm. Rev. M. E. Reed, Rev. H. Earl Moore of Crawfordsville and Rev. C. L. Harper of the city officiating. Burial in Spring Vale cemetery. It was announced friends might call at the Rogers and Smith funeral home after 7pm Friday evening.
