Gaylord Malmfelt, 80, and his wife, Evelyn, 76, were found in the wreckage of their rural Arkdale, Wis. home after a tornado ripped through a 13-mile area of Adams County near Big Flats at about 9:30 p.m.
The county is a retirement and tourist area about 20 miles north of the Wisconsin Dells.
The Malmfelts, both raised in the Rutland area, first moved to Arkdale in 1947. They returned to the Wenona area in the mid-60s where they lived until 1978, when they moved back to Arkdale.
Funeral services are pending at the Roseberry Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Friendship, Wis. and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in nearby Adams, Wis.
Gaylord Malmfelt died from trauma to the body and Evelyn Malmfelt died from trauma to the head, according to Adams County coroner Ed Baron. The roof was blown off the couple's home.

Married on June 17, 1939 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Chicago, the couple had three daughters: Janet Hellerman of Streator; Ruth Malmfelt of Madison, Wis. and Mary Lou Lyons of Mundelein; four granddaughters; and one grandson.
