Elizabeth went to Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia a week before her death to undergo an operation. She was a graduate of the New York State Library School and was assistant librarian of the New York State Library. She later became the assistant librarian of the Osterhout Library in Wilkes Barre. She began there when they library opened and remained there for many years. For 10 years she was on the editorial staff of Lippincott's, having charge of the bibliography work on their dictionary. She was recognized as one of the leading authorities in bibliography in the country. She was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
