William Gibbons, eldest son of the Hon. W.H. Gibbons, came to St. John's in the 1870's as a child and had lived there until his death. He was employed in the sheep raising business. An injury he received from a runaway, November, 1904, ultimately flared up causing his death. There was no doctor resident in the town at the time. He was buried beside four brothers and sisters who had predeceased him. One of them was Augustus Gibbons who was murdered by outlaws five years previous.

His death notice was printed in the Arizona Republican, Phoenix, Arizona, January 14, 1906.
