Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Weldon, 93, of Bartlesville, died early Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at her son's home in Bartlesville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Weldon will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, April 6, 2015 in the East Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville, with Pastor Orville Moody of the Rose Hill Community Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday at the Woodland Cemetery at Cleveland, Oklahoma directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Honorary casket escorts will include Paul Miller, Gary Miller, Adam Weldon, Brandon Weldon, Aaron Weeks, Michael Weldon and Jamis Weldon.

A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Rose Hill Community Baptist Church,12950 North 4000 Road, Dewey, Oklahoma, 74029.

Mrs. Weldon was born on December 21, 1921 at Krebs, Oklahoma to Joseph Rufus and Della Myrtle (Humphrey) Douglass. She grew up and received her education in McAlester, Oklahoma, graduating from McAlester High School in 1939. She was then employed at the Bell Telephone Company in McAlester.

She was married to Glenn W. Weeks on November 23, 1943 in McAlester and he preceded her in death in April of 1945.

She moved to Bartlesville in December of 1945 and was married to Gilbert E. Weldon on December 14, 1946. They made their home in Bartlesville where she was active as a homemaker. She later attended Tulsa Beauty College and operated a beauty salon in her home until 1994. Following Mr. Weldon's death in December of 1976, she moved to Southwest Baptist College in Boliver, Missouri where she was a dormitory supervisor from 1977 until the summer of 1980 when she returned to Bartlesville.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and had also been instrumental in starting several local church missions, such as Trinity Baptist, Virginia Avenue Baptist, Okesa and Labadie Heights. She was a charter member of the Bartlesville Choral Society, a member of the Musical Research Society, was known for singing in churches and at funerals in the Bartlesville area and was the first Weight Watchers lecturer in Bartlesville. She played piano at ElderCare and also played for the special needs Sunday School class at First Baptist Church. She was a guest soloist at Independence, Kansas singing "The Messiah" and had also sang at Carnegie Hall with the Bartlesville Choral Society.

Mrs. Weldon is survived by one son, David E. Weldon and wife Susan of Bartlesville, six grandchildren, Andrew Weeks, Aleesa Jean Weeks, Aaron Noel Weeks, Adam David Weldon, Amy Lynn Weldon and Michael Weldon, and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters, two sons, Paul Weldon on December 4, 1999 and Noel Weeks on May 13, 2009, and her husbands, Glenn W. Weeks in April 1945 and Gilbert E. Weldon on December 4, 1976.
