His family moved to Pullman, Washington in 1945, where he attended Pullman High School and subsequently graduated from Washington State University with a BA in radio and television and then studied speech therapy at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Woody answered his call of duty in 1950, serving four years in the U.S. Air Force at Langley AFB, Virginia.
From there he took off in his career as a radio broadcaster, as a radio DJ, a program director and progressed through the ranks into KSAY and K101's news director in San Francisco, California. Woody concluded his career in radio at KMFO radio, Capitola, California.
From there he went into business, first as a real estate agent, then district manager for a production company and finally found his niche as a florist in Hayward, California.
After retirement, Woody remained as active in his daily life, volunteering with the Atwater Police Department and at Mercy Hospital.
Woody was the proud father of three children, where he would dote on them as a little league coach and scout master.
Unfortunately he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy and son, Kurtis; and his brothers, Adrian and Ross.
Woody is survived by his sister, Joene of Blaine, Washington; his son and daughter-in-law, TSgt Brock and Dr. Tammy Woodward; and his beloved grandchildren, Aaron, Jason, Melissa, Alexandria, Jacob, Halley and Conner.
Internment is at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, California.
