Florence Wolf Calaway of Olive Branch, Mississippi died Friday, March 27, 2015, in Memphis. She was born on October 10, 1947, to John Quincy and Bess Millen Wolf.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Quincy Hickman Calaway.
She is survived by her husband, William H. Calaway; daughter, Florence Mullins (Wayne); three grandchildren, Benjamin, Thomas and Elizabeth Mullins, a step-grandson, Matthew Mullins (Rachael); a step-great-grandson, Ethan, and a sister, Adele Wolf Grilli.
Florence graduated from The Hutchinson School as valedictorian of her class, attended Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and received her BA from Rhodes College. She earned her MA and EdD from The University of Memphis.
Her employment included Baptist Hospital in Health Services Research and Women’s Services, Memphis City Schools in the office of Research and Evaluation and Shelby County Schools in the same capacity.
She enjoyed all animals, adopting many homeless dogs and cats. Most of all, she loved her family.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Memorials may be made to Rhodes College, the Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
