Martha was the daughter of Irvin Strickland (1780-1850) and Martha Crow (1800-1871).

She married Denison Duncan Mayfield at Hall County Georgia on Nov 24, 1853.

Denison was the son of William Campbell "Fox Hunter" Mayfield (1783-1857) and his second wife, Temperance Kennemore (1799-1858).

Duncan fought in the Civil War-
48th Infantry of Mississippi, Confederate Army.
President Grant gave land grants in Arkansas to Civil War veterans.

Denison Duncan Mayfield and Martha E. Mayfield lived in 1860 at Dist. 565, Hall County, Georgia.

Denison Duncan Mayfield and Martha E. Strickland lived in 1870 at Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.
