Betty P. Callihan, 89, of Longview passed away Jan. 5, 2014, at the Canterbury Inn. She had been at the Canterbury for the last three and half years.
She was born May 22, 1924, in Dixie, Wash. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Washington University and taught at Robert Gray and Broadway elementary schools in Longview.
Betty was a member of the National Education Association. She enjoyed music, traveling, church and reading. She was very kind, friendly, intelligent and thoughtful and was an accomplished pianist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Callihan. They were married in 1947 in Portland.
Survivors include a sister, Janet Lewis of Kirkland, Wash.; a daughter, Jean K. Morishima of Bellevue, Wash.; seven nephews and nieces; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2218 Kessler Blvd., Longview.
Memorial contributions can be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Columbia Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
