Beloved husband of 64 years to Josephine Servetto Moscone; dear brother-in-law to Irene Servetto and Thomas B. Wall; loving uncle to The Honorable Philip Moscone and his wife Nancy Modean Moscone, Janet T. and Daniel J. Wall, Patricia Stavarek Wall and David Stavarek; granduncle of Erin Wall, Amy Wall, Brian Hopper, Laura Wall, Mary C. Wall, Tom C. Wall, Travis Moscone, Gavin Moscone and Theodora Wall Stavarek; also survived by numerous loving cousins.
George Moscone was a native of San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood. Attended Galileo High School; active in three sports. Attended University of San Francisco and was a graduate of San Francisco State University and Stanford University (M.A.). Taught in S.F. Unified Schools for 38 years at Everett, Denman, Marina and Aptos Junior High Schools.
He coached baseball, track and basketball successfully. He loved "his kids." Served as principal at Marina and Aptos Junior Highs. Taught at North Fork Union School, a school for the Native American of the Sierras.
Served four years in the U.S. Navy, '42-'45. George and Jo loved to travel and visited a good part of the world; he kept many notebooks of their travel experiences.
George and Jo loved to dance at social events. Served as past president of Cow Hollow Men's Club; past president of the "Swinging Sixties" of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
Active member of California Retired Teacher's Association and Native Sons of the Golden West, Presidio Parlor, where he served as president.
Lifetime member of the S.F. Italian Athletic Club, Salesian Boy's Club, St. Vincent de Paul Men's Club. Minister of the Eucharist of the Catholic Church and is the longest serving minister and lector in SF, served as docent for Saint Mary's Cathedral.
