John J. Banchetti (February 26, 1937 - March 27, 2015)
John went to his eternal reward on March 27, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born to Valentine Oliver Banchetti and Victoria Evelyn Cingolani Banchetti in Lake Village, Arkansas on February 26, 1937. His formative years were lived in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jean Marie Timm Banchetti.
He is survived by his daughters Debra (Tony) Grantham of Lewisville, TX and Cynthia (Kevin) Tull of Marietta, GA and son Mark (Angie) Banchetti of Benbrook, TX. Grandchildren are Chelsea and Candice Grantham, J. Garrett and Reagan Tull, Taylor and Chloé Banchetti. John is also survived by his brother, Paul Banchetti of Vicksburg, MS, and his sister, Agnes Banchetti Howell of Tequesta, FL.
John and Jean lived in Dallas and retired to Richland Chambers Lake in Corsicana, TX. John retired as a Systems Engineering Manager from Lockheed Martin after 43 years of service. John belonged to the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and his hobby was restoring and repairing clocks.
Other organizations with which John was associated were the Knights of Columbus, the 287 R/C Fire and Rescue VFD on Richland Chambers Reservoir near Corsicana, TX, the Navarro County Appraisal Review Board for 6 years. He also served as a volunteer at the Navarro Regional Hospital. John helped organize the Grandview Estates Home Owners Association while in Navarro County. While living in Dallas, John served on many committees and organizations while a member of the St. Rita Catholic Community and was active in the Montserrat Retreat House for many years. John also helped organize the Glen Cove/Meadow Park Home Owners Association.
Visitation will be at the Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM, with the Rosary prayed at 6:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the North Chapel of Calvary Hill Mausoleum on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
